OPEN EUROPEAN DAY 2016
The Open European Day is back!
EEA and ICLEI join forces again this year to organise the 3rd Open European Day (OED), taking place on the 5th July, back-to-back with the Bonn Resilient Cities Conference.
The successful interactive OED format will be enriched and enhanced to ensure valuable experience exchange between climate adaptation practitioners of both “forerunner” and “beginner” cities and with key adaptation players.
Climate adaptation practitioners representing a diverse group of cities from “beginner” to “trailblazer” and key adaptation players will share and exchange valuable experience and expertise as part of the interactive OED format. Institutions supporting urban adaptation development and scientists in the field will address the key questions raised by city representatives with tailored contributions. The event will also encompass the OED Marketplace: an adaptation information hotspot offering further opportunities for exchange and discussion.
The thematic focus of this year’s edition will combine the vital topics participants raised in previous editions with the most current debates and solutions in the adaptation arena.
Climate services involving the production, transfer and use of climate knowledge, but also tools, methods and instruments to enable climate-informed decision-making. Climate services are increasingly important to support cities in becoming climate-resilient.
Nature-based solutions, providing numerous benefits to cities and their inhabitants, if planned correctly.
Mainstreaming adaptation by integrating different local planning processes and exploiting co-benefits and opportunities for combining climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.
Financing adaptation to make good adaptation solutions viable and create opportunities for change in cities will be reflected upon in the sessions and as a cross-cutting theme throughout the event.
Participation is free of charge.
